Focus Collection (2013-15)

Pairing small soft sculptures with exhibition brochures and painted elements in a variety of arrangements is a process of exploration in form, pattern, relationships of representation (two-dimensional, three-dimensional, the hand made and the reproduction), and between contemporary and art historical references. A playful exploration, I consider this practice an educational activity. Teaching myself pattern-making and shape-making, comparing these forms with their painted re-presentation, and placing them in the context of museum texts that are intended to educate (and which have played a significant role in my ongoing education) allow me to consider new methods and forms for myself as an artist.
